Need some advice regarding the effect of lifting weights on height.
    Ok I need some advice.

I'm 19 and about 5ft7 and have recently started going to the gym and lifting weights. Although I know i'm unlikely to grow anymore I was wondering if lifting weights can make me get shorter than I currently am?

I have read somewhere that squats can compress your spine and make you smaller.

I'm not lifting really heavy weights just tyring to get my arms and chest in shape.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You get shorter throughout the day. The squishy bits get compressed from holding up your weight. You go lie in bed for a few hours and they spring back. Add 100kg to your back and they squish much quicker than they normally do throughout the day hence shorter. So long as your back works properly you still wake up the next morning as 5ft7

(PS just doing arms and chest is rarely a good plan)
