What might I be entitled too? 2013/14
    Hi All

I am thinking of applying for university to start in September 2013. There is a total minefield of information out there. I was wondering if someone could help me confirm what I might be eligible for?

So a few things for you guys to know:

The course is Occupational Therapy, so if the NHS don't change their funding before that uni year, I will get my course fees paid for.

I am 30 and have also completed a degree from 2000 to 2003. So I know I won't get a regular student loan.

I work away but stay with my parents for about a week a month and pay them a little rent. No kids, no other commitments. My parents don't help me financially and haven't for years.

I hope to have savings of about 2k by the time I get to uni.

I know I can apply for the maintenance loan/grant.
    NHS Bursary/Grant.

    Is there anything else?

What I am worried about is how my living situation will affect my finance applications. Technically I suppose I don't 'live' with my parents but I stay with them from time to time. I am a live in carer and my accommodation is free. I'd appreciate any comments or pointers and this long post.

    Thanks for reading.

I am starting OT in Sept and am also 30 having completed a degree in 2005. If things stay the same next year for funding you will receive £1000 grant non income assessed and then an income assessed loan, mine has been assessed at £3000 (this being the maximum amount for OT at Salford uni), so a toatl of £4000 spread over the year.

You also will get a student loan its a standard amount and not income asssessed of £2100 ish, you will get this even if you have a previous degree funding.

As for your living situation, Im not sure. The main thing is that you have to prove that you have been self sufficient for 36 months, presumably if you can demonstate this and can send in proof that you live elsewhere from your parents then you will be classed as independent. I would recommend going on facebook they have a facebook page and you can ask on there.

As someone who is 30, your parents income is irrelevant. You're classed as independent.
