Essentials needed for someone learning to drive?
I'm asking on behalf of my boyfriend- it's his birthday coming up soon and he's looking to learn to drive after booking his first lesson this weekend!

He's a lot older than the average learner at 29, but after working and living in the city for 10 years he's found a job that on public transport is a 1.5hr commute each way- dream job that it is, it'll only be a 45min drive if by car!

So, he's looking to drive- and I want to buy him a few things for his birthday to get him started.

Idea's of what to get that can help him along?! I've heard of driving simulation pc games, theory test pc stuff?!

There's not very much to be honest - you could get him a theory test CD-ROM, copy of the highway code and some L Plates, along with an unrelated gift.

    You need to buy him:

    1. A great deal of patience. (not sure where to get this)
    2. Theory test CD.(http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Official...ref=pd_sim_b_1
    3. L/R plates. Wait, they don't have R plates in England... Just L Plates.

Cool- also anyone know about intensive courses? I've suggested he maybe does about 12-20hours of lessons and then has an intensive course?
