Self-Help Books - Nay or Yay?
I've always often frowned upon self-help books in the past but I've began to have taken an interest in two of them of which I'm thinking of buying. What experience have you had with proclaimed "self-help" books and which would you recommend and which ones would you reckon you should stay far away from?
The two books I'm specifically talking about are 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' by Dale Carneigie and 'The Art of Failure' by Neel Burton. -
Re: Self-Help Books - Nay or Yay?
I'd recommend Carneigie and perhaps '59 seconds' by richard wiseman which looks at the evidence base in the scientific literature.
Haven't read the other one you mention.
Tbh self help books are ok in moderation, it's a bad sign if someone's got shelves full of them.
