    Agnostic going to church?
Is it ok for someone like me who is not really that religious and a christian in name only to go to church? I am only considering it because I don't know many people and was given an offer to join the local church and their affiliated youth groups. I went to meet them and they seem really friendly, laid back and non over zealous. My personal rationale for going is that even if the religious aspect is all fairy tales the church still serves a purpose to bring the community together and offer moral support to people. Also There's not many other ways to meet people my age in the local area so I wouldn't want to waste the opportunity. I'm gonna do other things like join a college as well but the more the merrier as they say.

You could go for the community aspect, however you are supporting a religious organisation and maybe you should not go to church for the principle of showing you disagreement of it. However life is about having fun, so if you think you will enjoy it, then go along, however the religious aspect of it may become a pain.

If you want to socialise you should go. It doesn't matter what you believe.

Yeha this is pretty much my thoughts. It's official C of E so nothing too radical so i presume they would spend a couple mins rambling about god then get down to the activities lol

I would go along. I used to go to a religious youth group because it was fun, however found the religion part sometimes annoying, especially when I thought of how we could be doing something much more fun than listening to mumbo jumbo.

Feel free to attend, however respect the fact that you are in their place of worship voluntarily and it probably isn't the right time or place to voice views that could be controversial. Usually free tea and biscuits after the worship and the nice thing is, you actually meet some normal rational people, not these evangelical bible thumpers you tend to get on TSR or see in the streets, but just your average person ... who happens to believe in Christianity chill out over a brew and chat, doesn't even have to be about God or religion, my old padre always talked about rugby

Surely you would be better off joining a club of society in which you would actually have something in common with the other members, no? Something you are actually interested in?

It would only be natural of them to assume that you were either a Christian or interested in becoming a Christian, otherwise wtf are you doing there?
