Re: Do lecture halls have plug sockets?Im sure most people could only speak on behalf of their university, so it would depend on where you are going; it would also vary from lecture hall to lecture hall. However, I would say I've only ever really seen them at the edges of the lecture halls (so if you near one of the walls), if at all.(Original post by tard)
Probably a stupid question, but I've noticed the battery life on my laptop has been decreasing of late so I thought that I'd ask.
Also I wouldnt take a laptop in (its obviously personal choice) but everyone will see you looking on facebook mid lecture and the tapping can be pretty annoying. Stick with good 'ol pen and paper

Re: Do lecture halls have plug sockets?Depends on the University. You generally could in my old place.(Original post by marcusfox)
You won't be able to plug in your laptop, no.
If you really must have your laptop (and I personally wouldn't bother) then you could save battery by turning the screen brightness right down. -

Bring your laptop, sit near the edge and plug it in and you'll almost certainly feel a right fool when the lecturer asks you to unplug it because it's a trip hazard as the edges are usually walkways. Obviously this varies depending on layouts though. Small classroom environments may be OK.
You might be lucky and find a socket meant for a vacuum cleaner or a projector, but there is probably only a couple of sockets per lecture theatre.
Oh, and typing in lectures is a sure way to annoy at least one person with the clicking of keys when they are trying to concentrate.Last edited by marcusfox; 28-07-2012 at 22:23. -

Re: Do lecture halls have plug sockets?Yes, should have put a smiley in there...(Original post by Norton1)

In the vast majority of cases, you won't be able to plug your laptop in in a lecture unless it's either a brand new lecture hall with plugs for everyone, or a smaller classroom or lab environment with plenty of wall sockets... -
Re: Do lecture halls have plug sockets? It may surprise you, but some of us actually used laptops as an aide to studying, not a distraction duing lectures.(Original post by JumpingJonny)
