ALIS Test - Types of questions.
As i'm going into year 12, i've been told by my school that i'll have to take the ALIS test in order to give the teachers an idea of basic as/a2 predictions.

Lots of people have said that it's results don't prove to be very accurate, and that they, themselves have achieved much higher than what the test results should have predicted them; however, what sorts of questions do they ask in the test itself? Are they based on basic maths, English, and science skills?

If anybody knows where there's some practice questions or what the test is about it'd be very much appreciated.

    Thanks x

I didn't realize there was an actual test, with us they just took our scores at GCSE, converted them into numbers, divided them by the amount of GCSEs we took and came up with a score, and then they used a piece of paper with scales on it to figure out what our A2 predictions are likely to be. It's a load of tosh, I got A* and A at English GCSE and ALIS prediction was a C, I got an A at Psychology GCSE and ALIS prediction was a C, I didn't even do Drama and yet my prediction was a B, an then I got ABB (Psychology, English, Drama in that order) at AS Level and am predicted something like AAB for my A2 results in August! Don't pay too much attention to the results.

Just thought I would put my word in here, do not take the ALIS results as concrete they really aren't representative! I was predicted all C's for my A-levels and I'm actually looking at A*AAa so don't worry too much about it.

As for the test its essentially a cognition test so you can't revise apart from basic mathematics skills and if I remember correctly reading the questions once or twice usually helps, some people in my year just flew through it and weren't happy with the grade they were predicted in the end. Take your time and remember it isnt the be all and end all.

My sixth form made us take it as well to make our predictions. its not really something you can revise for but did have some GCSE maths questions and there was a section on there which is like the abstract reasoning in the UKCAT http://www.ukcat.ac.uk/about-the-tes...act-reasoning/ . i took it last year in September so can't really remember much but its really unreliable with predictions so i dunno why they use it. i was predicted D's but hopefully will get at least B's on results day.
