Zoology/Wildlife Conservation Degrees without A2 Biology?
    Hi all,

I'm currently an AS student in Sixth Form College, and I've pretty much just decided to change my career path (towards the end of my AS year). I want to work in Wildlife Conservation/Photography and Camerawork, and I've been told the best way to get into that business is with a Science Degree.

I'm going to start AS Biology in September, but still want to start University next year, and not have to continue to full A2 Biology.

So my question is, are there any Universities that offer Zoology/Conservation Degrees (possibly even Animal Behaviour) and don't require full A Level Biology?

The other subjects I'm studying are English Language, Digital Photography, Fine Art, and Media Studies, although I'm dropping Media Studies at AS and picking up AS Biology.

Universities I've already found that sound promising regarding entry requirements are:
University of Salford. (Zoology, Wildlife Conservation Courses)
University College Falmouth (Marine and Natural History Photography, which holds both photographic and scientific modules which is perfect).

Have a look through this: http://www.whatuni.com/degrees/cours...8681/page.html

I can't see a way to quickly filter by A level subjects (though I didn't try for more than 30 seconds), but it looks like a decent start.

You can do a foundation year at most universities that will give you access to the BSc... I am doing a foundation year in september that will get me onto zoology the year after (if all goes well) and I am coming from a BTEC in art and design

At college I studied a BTEC National Diploma in Interactive Media and, briefly, went on to Uni to study Photography. I quickly realised that it wasn't for me and had a year out kinda figuring out what it was I wanted to do.

I ended up with a job in a Marine Sanctuary and I really love it, so looked in to studying Marine Biology.
Like the above posted said, a lot of places offer Foundation Years for people, like me, whose previous studies haven't included relevant subjects. I applied for Hull's BSc Marine and Freshwater Biology with a Foundation Year, but Hull also offer a BSc Zoology with optional modules in Animal Behaviour and Conservation.

    Hope that's helpful

Thanks very much, it is! I actually live in Hull so it could be an option for me, although I think I'd prefer to move away.

Haha, well I'm glad I was at least a little helpful anyway

Your best bet might be to look around and see if you can find a few different places that offer a Zoology degree with entry via a Foundation Year, and then look in to the modules of each course. It's likely they're pretty similar, but different Universities will offer a couple of different options. You may even be lucky and find one that offers a Photography module or something similar

That Marine and Natural History Photography degree sounds pretty awesome though

I've found one at Manchester, Anglia Ruskin, then a few Degrees at Salford which I'd be able to apply for. Manchester is my first choice, simply because the course modules are great and there's a year spent in professional placement.

    I know!
