Nurbürgring to close by the end of the month
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/m...e-7962455.html
Sad.
Probably will be left to die if no one picks it up (although the Nordschleife is actually public roads).

I wanna take my bike around it.(Original post by cat herder)
That's a real shame. I had hoped to drive around the Nordschleife one day
Bernie has come out saying he'll 'see what he can do'... -

My current motorbike has done 2 laps though in the hands of my elder brother.

Looks like they got the loan and it's being saved anyway.
Maybe we will all be able to ride around it in future anyway.
Stupid thing was trying to build this big amusepark park etc there anyway. -
Re: Nurbürgring to close by the end of the monthHurrah! It's gotta be done. I'm so looking forward to passing my bike test sometime early next year (it's expensive! :O).(Original post by Motorbiker)

Re: Nurbürgring to close by the end of the monthWe shouldn't be so stuck in the past. Why shouldn't we look forwards and aim to create new tracks which can become stuff of legends?(Original post by Solid.Snake)
It's such a shame with the way Bernie thinks (about his wallet) slowly the whole F1 calender is going to be moving towards Asia and we are slowly losing all the historical and legendary race tracks

And Tilke makes tracks that are the stuff of legends?(Original post by Zerforax)

Re: Nurbürgring to close by the end of the monthHe has his supporters and critics but that's a flaw with the man and not with the idea of having new tracks.(Original post by constantmeowage)

Of course, and I agree it's not all his fault - it's partly down to him, but also to rule changes, conservative strategies meaning that drivers settle for points not prizes etc. To be fair to him, we've seen processions at Silverstone, Monza, and Melbourne in the recent past. But you can't honestly say that he's helping the cause for entertainment? And it's not as though he's going to be replaced anytime soon.(Original post by Zerforax)

Re: Nurbürgring to close by the end of the monthThe problem is that the higher ups want more safety and less dangerous racing.(Original post by constantmeowage)

Which is understandable. But how much safer can we get? I don't think I could count all of the retirements this year on two hands. The cars ae ultra reliable, the drivers are ultra conservative in winning strategies...A car could rolls at Abu Dhabi and still have hundrrds of yards of run off to g.(Original post by Zerforax)
