I had my interview at the weekend, but was ultimately unsuccessful. While I'm disappointed by this, I thought that I could post about my experience try to help TSR users prepare for any upcoming McDonalds interview.
For the position I was applying for, there was a two stage interview process. The first was an interview (with a timeslot of ten minutes) held at a different restaurant from the one that I had applied to, while the second was was held at the store I had applied to, was two hours long and included an interview and an OJE. I didn't make the second round, so I can't provide details on that.
I arrived at the store in plently of time, and gave a member of staff the name of my interviewer, which was part of my confirmation e-mail. I was then told to wait for my interviewer at a seating area near the front of the store.
The interviewer appeared three minutes late for my interview, and I was delayed further still because the interviewee before me was also waiting. As a result, my interview started eight minutes later than it should have done.
My interview was held in a relatively quiet area of the restaurant but with some customers nearby. I'm not sure if this is standard practice, but it caught me by surprise.
I'm not going to break down my answers, but I will share questions I was asked:
1. What have you been up to recently? (An obvious icebreaker)
2. What are your plans for the future?
3. Give an example of a time when you have worked in a team?
4. Why do you want to work at McDonalds?
5. How did you hear about this vacancy?
My interviewer then asked if I had any questions of my own, so I asked a couple. The interview lasted a little over five minutes for me, as it did for the prevous interviewee.
I found out I was unsuccessful at about midday today, so they got back to me quite quickly. Unlike my confirmation of interview message, this was not accompanied by a text. My rejection e-mail said that McDonalds does not give feedback to individual candidates.
That concludes my story. With the benefit of hindsight, I can see where I went wrong, and what I need to improve on for my next interview, so it wasn't an entirely wasted endeavour.
I hope this post is of use to at least one of you, as it took me quite a long time to type!
