    Alcohol Intolerance??
    Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone ever experienced anything similar.

A few years ago I was able to have 5-6 pints, then go to sleep with no effect whatsoever and wake up fresh as the mountain wind on a crisp Tennessee morning. I tried Southern Comfort once and I really liked the taste - it was awesome. I drank it all the time, but then one time I drank a huge (and I mean huge) amount, was sick and hand a huge hangover.

Now, whenever I drink even one pint or one shot I can't sleep all night, I get a headache and feel like I have a mini-hangover within 30 minutes of drinking. Drinking alcohol has become so unpleasant that I actually try and avoid it these days. And even the smell of Southern Comfort makes me feel disgusted.

Is there such a thing as acquired alcohol intolerance? Has anyone else ever experienced something like this?

    Re: Alcohol Intolerance??
Alcohol is a drug so yes I would imagine it is possible to become intolerant. I experience it due to other health problems I've had. I never used to drink a lot, I hate the feeling of being drunk, but I could drink an awful lot more before feeling sick before I was ill than I can now.

Why not go teetotal for a month or 6 weeks and see if that helps, don't go mad with the drinking but have one or two and see how you feel. You really don't need alcohol to have fun or to socialise, but if you like the stuff and drink it in moderation and are sensible then why not. But it's not the end of the world, I'd be sad if I could never have a G&T again, but there are worse things to lose than your ability to drink alcohol!
