Laptop broken after reset to factory settings. Please help
Basically, my laptop couldn't play Youtube videos (just showed a black box or took an hour loading a 5 minute low quality video) nor show the chat on Facebook. Several online games also failed to load, and everything else loaded slowly. My xbox and laptop still worked on the internet, as did my sister's laptop. After trying a few things to troubleshoot, I decided to back up my files and reset the laptop to factory settings, using a recovery partition built into my Lenovo laptop.

I assumed that the only issue would be putting my files back onto the laptop, however when I tried to download Chrome, it took over 2 hours, and Youtube/ FB chat/ games still don't load. Is this a hardware issue, problem with the recovery partition (which I've used successfully before) or a sign it's time to replace my laptop?

    I'm on Windows 7 64 Bit on a Lenovo G560.

    Thanks

There might well be some hardware testing software you can use to look for memory problems and the like. Was it a totally clean reinstall? (i.e. wipe and reinstall). There should be a way to check the integrity of the hard disk drive as well which is probably worth doing.

It was a clean reinstall, and can you give me any ideas what software could help, or even the best place to get it looked at please?

For memory testing look into memtest86 - you will need the 64 bit version. You need to burn it onto a CD as per the instructions, boot up from that CD and let it run most likely all night.

    To check disk integrity:

    Open the "Computer" window
Right-click on the drive in question
    Select the "Tools" tab
    In the Error-checking area, click <Check Now>.

Both of these things will take a while. Where did you originally buy the computer from? Is it still under warranty?

You need to update your Windows, and update all the drivers to the latest patch.

Wi-Fi card could be borked, but defintely install all the Windows updates first.
