Is parental consent needed under 18
I am 17 and planning on travelling abroad with my 19 year old boyfriend to Holland, is any form of parental consent needed?

No. Haven't you asked this before..?

I've been going abroad (within Europe) with a friend of mine since 16. I've only encountered the issue of parental consent when I went to Canada with my grandparents aged 11.

For what exactly? If travelling alone while young you are usually an 'unaccompanied minor' which means that you need to inform the airline before you go so that they can arrange for you to be looked after by staff. I've flown alone from the age of 17 to Egypt and Thailand and no form of parental consent was needed (how exactly would they go about that anyway?)

Edit: you shouldn't need parental consent for accommodation under the age of 18 either. At least, I've never required it

    You'll be fine.
On most airlines you are considered an adult from the age of 16. When I was 16 I did plenty of travelling without my parents and never encountered any difficulties.

I was initially denied my hotel booking and almost turned over to child services protection in Portugal when I visited as a 17 year old- fortunately I managed to get parental permission faxed through. At the time, Portugal required any foreign unaccompanied minors (17 and under) to have a notarised letter signed by both parents authorising their travel. Whereas in Spain being a 17 year old lone traveller was no problem. In Canada I was once turned away from a hotel for being under 21 (despite being resident there as a foreign student).

There is no 'EU wide' rule on this- rules vary between countries and airlines also implement their own rules.

I am not sure what the regulations are in the Netherlands- your best bet would be to contact the Dutch embassy for the final word. However, you will most likely be fine.
