My first year marks - HELP
I failed two modules and have 90 out of 120 credits. One of my modules finance , the leader gave me the opportunity to retake it next year. But my Business of Sport module I got a refferal mark of my test. Unfortunately I came to my country before 1 month right after my last exam ( business of sport ) because my dad suffers myasthenia gravis illnes and I had urgently to come back in my mother country . The problem is that I can resit the exam on 9th July, but the tickets to London are expensive 400 pounds + two ways and my family has debts and hard period right now.
I emailed my leader to take the exam online, if it is possible and told him I took a loan for my tuition fee and work in order to live in London. Do not blame me for my fail in these two modules but the coursework ( Financial Information ) and test ( Business of Sport ) I was already in my country and then returned back for the test and I sent the coursework via the post. Me and my family gave me the last money for tickets and a hostel just to take my test and I have only 18 marks. I feel so ashamed and stupid. And Unfortunately the coursework letter arrived too late and everything crashed down. So Financial Information module just gave me 0 marks for the coursework.
I need your help just tell me , if I can retake the two modules next year and graduate first year with 90 credits. What is your advise guys ?
I am scared, if I retake the WHOLE year again I even cannot take a loan ;(((
HELP !!

Re: My first year marks - HELP
From what I know and they told me (I asked because I failed too my chinese written exam for 3 points):
If you fail the resit (or you don't do it) then you would have to retake the 2 failed modules next year (and intermit a year). If you need to redo only some of the modules next year, then you would become a PTR: part-time retriever. PTR pays reduced fees. I think it's about 450 £ for every module you need to redo (but you should contact the student advice to be sure it's still 450). So if you do again only two modules you would pay only 900 pounds.
Also try to ask if there is a possibility to get condoned credit. In first year they allow condoned credit (at least in my department) if it's only 1 or 2 modules which are not core. if one of them is a core module (so mandatory and not optional) then they won't give you condoned credit (or at least they told me so).
Hope this helps. Anyway in my opinion the best thing is to contact the student advice and finance department and ask for their advices.Last edited by andrespi; 14-06-2012 at 22:13. -
Re: My first year marks - HELP
The uni sent me this :
Eligibility for Condoned Credit
If you have been offered a referral opportunity, you must attempt all re-assessment(s) that have been offered to you. At levels 3 and 4, if you do not attempt your re-assessment(s) and you do not achieve a pass, you will not be eligible for a condoned credit and will be expected to retake the module again in full, provided you have not already done so. At levels 5 and 6, condoned credit is not available, so you should attempt your re-assessment(s) in order to aim for a pass. If you do not achieve a pass, or do not attempt your re-assessment(s) you will be expected to retake the module again in full, provided you have not already done so.
Is there any possibility to retake the two modules next year as normal. Just to have 2 more modules in my studies. I sent hundred of emails to the WBS office and my tuitors but NO ANSWER . WTF ! -
