Asking too much from the raspberry pi?

Asking too much from the raspberry pi?Hey, my plans with my raspberry pi (when it finally arrives) is to leave it on 24/7 as a media server with my two hard drives plugged into it so that I'll be able to access all my files through wireless from my tablet/phone and laptop. I'd also like to have a torrent client on there so that I'll be able to run my torrents on there 24 hours rather than my laptop. It be good to be able to remotely access the pi to be able to use the desktop too. Another plan was to plug a web cam into it and use it a security system to take an image when it detects motion.
Am I asking too much from the raspberry pi for these tasks all at once? -

Apart from the security system part, I imagine it would be fine doing everything. I don't know if it cope streaming media, torrenting, being used remotely and monitoring for motion all at once though.
What wireless connector does it have as well? If it is using a 802.11g connection, you also might bottleneck a bit if streaming high quality media and using decent (so high speed) torrents. -

Re: Asking too much from the raspberry pi?As far as the torrents go I'm not TOO bothered by speed. It's just for large files I'd rather leave that on over night downloading them than my noisy laptop. And for accessing files it just be for me, I was hoping I'd be able to get some internet file sharing on the go from it so I don't have to be in the house to access files from my phone.(Original post by rmhumphries)
