    Crashing Higher History
aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh, 8 DAYS AWAY FROM RESULTS. bricking it.
anyway, back onto the point of this thread.
i already posted one on this topic a couple months back that was pretty similar but i changed my mind and now blah blah blah, i'm rambling. i'll just ask the question shall i?
ok so, i'm going into s5 next year (scaaaaary) so obviously we've all already picked our subject choices but i am considering switching subjects.
i did english, maths, french, chemistry, biology, physics and geography for standard grade and i chose english, maths, biology, geography and chemistry for higher a couple of months ago. i was stuck for ageeees trying to decide and i thought screw it i'll just do x, y and z subjects. now i have recently been thinking about changing chemistry to history.
SO, my question is, do you think i have a good chance of doing well in higher history even though i didn't take standard grade history?
i've talked to my friends and the ones taking history are encouraging me to switch, and i want to because i'm only pretty average at chemistry and well i really want to to history.
i'm on the very edge of making my descision, but i thought it was best to get my results back before i finally decided. but YEAH, good idea, bad idea? any thoughts are welcome. sorry again for the rambling. <3

Well, no doubt it will be hard. However I would say go for it, if you are committed you can do well.

You will just need to work harder to pass the Scottish Higher because you didn't do the standard grade.

    Good luck.

I did Higher History this year
Firstly of all a great subject, stands you in good stead for uni for your write-ups etc. I wouldn't say that omitting Standard Grade would affect you learn anything as I found out from doing SG that my essay based questions knowledge was different from SG however in SG you do learn the structure for enquiry skills questions and essay writing but this is made more complex by historiography and mini essay questions as I called them. As long as you can express historians views and have proper grammar I personally don't see a problem but you may need to study a tad harder than others until you get the basic techniques out of the road.
I understand partly what you are going through, for sixth year I'm crashing adv higher graph comm, never did it at standard grade. I remember sitting there not knowing how to work CAD and the people beside me weren't very helpful but I've done a month and have made cabinets and vases however the drawing will take getting used to - I was confused by all the lines and the triangles and when to use them - but after a month of not giving up my drawings might be out by a bit but at least they look what it's supposed to.

Just never give up and I if you find it too much ask for more essays or help or examples. I find going home after a bad day and crying is great
