Re: So how does results day actually work?
Hello and welcome. This board is a place to introduce yourself to the community, but I'll answer anyway. On the 23rd August it will be the GCSE results day (if GCSE results it's what your after), and what will happen is most schools will open on this day in the morning (9am - 11am or whatever your school specifies) and you can go in and collect your results from the specified place, usually the library at my old school. You go in, collect your sheet of paper and it will have a list of grades that you achieved in each subject. Sometimes they also send a letter home after that date with your results incase you couldn't attend. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Re: So how does results day actually work?
It doesn't....... Year 10 (Or at least in my school) DO NOT go in on results day, it's only for Year 11! This is because teachers will be busy with people who have not done as well as they thought and so they need to help them find a place at Sixth Form or College asap. Generally Year 10 will get their result when school starts again in September. Check your schools website - it should tell you whether you go in or not.
However for Year 11:
Pupils go into school (Anytime after 10am but before 12am) to collect their results, each person has an individual envelope. Two things can then happen
ACHIEVED THE RESULTS THEY NEED: They ring their preferred Sixth Form/College to see if they have a place (if you achieved the results, you will) and then confirm they wish to attend.
NOT ACHIEVED: They then go over to a table (usually) and the teachers can advise them on Sixth Form/College places where they can do retakes or other courses, they generally then help them contact said places and help them apply.
Hope that was useful.
P.S. Enjoy your social life, Year 11 is HARD! You will be piled with work, exams, revision, stress! Then be prepared for AS and A2 after, even HARDER!
You may get a 'real life' back when your 18...
Good luck! -
Re: So how does results day actually work?I am sorry I just have to laugh at that...Lol year 11 isn't that hard at all, A-levels are hard but not hard enough that you don't have a life and uni is much harder than that....(Original post by justanothertechie)

Same, what happens is your school give you a pin that you have to use to access/create your account so you can find out edexcel results online. I'm in yr11 by the way, mind I've just finished aswell.(Original post by Annie72)
My year 10 son can find out online via the edexcel website.I dont know if this works for every school or just his. -
Year 10s can go into my school to get their results, wait until the end of the time for year 11s because they will be the highest priority and most important on the day, so say it ends at 12, aim to turn up at 11:50 and pop your head in and ask for your results, you'll be given a sheet of paper or just told what your exam results are

This was posted from The Student Room's iPhone/iPad App -
