Damn them Muslims for Integrating (Sarcasm)
Just saw this:
http://englishdefenceleague.org/foru...-the-olympics/
and I thought seriously? You can't have your cake and eat it. It's like they say they want Muslims to integrate, but once Muslims do, they are supposedly "Islamifying the UK" It just speaks volumes about what EDL members are actually about
On their forums, I see a lot of racism towards Pakistanis, which tend to get a lot of likes, so the EDL can't really claim "We're not racist" when racism is endemic on their forums
Another one here:
http://englishdefenceleague.org/foru...-to-celebrate/
So I'm confused. Do they want us to integrate or not?
Rant overLast edited by de_monies; 02-08-2012 at 23:24. -

That's not really integrating is it?(Original post by MonkeyMan2009)
they want you guys to integrate without the burqas and other cultural clothing.
If there's a freedom of individuality and representing ones identity, then Muslims should in fact be more than welcome to wear the burqa, the hijab so on and so forth.
As for the Olympics, I rate the Muslim women who are representing Islam in the events. Shows we're 'normal' according to mainstream definition. Shows we can do the same thing as a person who may not wear the hijab for example. Shows we are no different. A hijab doesn't define someone. But it sure does represent ones belief. So why can't people respect that?

Re: Damn them Muslims for Integrating (Sarcasm)integration to the edl and others is to adopt western culture/values. Wearing different clothing is not integration. A hijab does define someone according to the edl (and others) as it is a statement not just a practical garment for covering.(Original post by moonietoot)

People (edl et al) cannot respect that because they disagree with what islam (or certain brands of islam represent and believe it goes against western culture, values etc) -
Re: Damn them Muslims for Integrating (Sarcasm)You sure about that? Arguing with them, they often make the mistake between Pakistani and Muslim. They say they believe in freedom of speech, but completely censored what I had to say.(Original post by MonkeyMan2009)
because they are opposed to islam (or radical islam) and not a particular race...
I can PM you the before and after comments if you want -
Re: Damn them Muslims for Integrating (Sarcasm)indeed there are many racists within the edl, but their central opposition is against radical islam (wahabbism). the pakistani/muslims issue is because the majority of muslims here are pakistani (up north, luton etc). Same thing applies to turks in germany, north africans in france and lebanese in australia.(Original post by de_monies)

Re: Damn them Muslims for Integrating (Sarcasm)Adopting Western cultue/values is things like supporting freedom of speech, democracy, tolerance etc... no? Why then was my freedom of speech and many others censored on an EDL page? All I did was take apart their argument piece by piece and provide sources. They just relied on propaganda techniques. I've now been banned from that page. Freedom of speech? I don't think so(Original post by MonkeyMan2009)
integration to the edl and others is to adopt western culture/values.
Where do you draw the line? Groups like emos, goths, indie kids, scene kids etc.. actively don't want to be in the mainstream. Should we ban them as well? After all, they're not integrating are they?(Original post by MonkeyMan2009)
Wearing different clothing is not integration. A hijab does define someone according to the edl (and others) as it is a statement not just a practical garment for covering.
Do you disagree with a nun's clothing? It's not too dissimilar to a hijab wearing Muslim woman -

We are not robots. We can't look the same. Especially if everyone has different beliefs and values. Take a lesbian, for example. She is going outside what is seen as a 'norm' and is in a same sex relationship. Should we shun her from society for that reason? No. Instead, western cultures nowadays embrace sexuality and in fact promote it further. However, if a woman decides to wear a hijab, she's apparently oppressed. There are women in the states who are not even Muslim and they decide to wear the hijab because it makes them feel safe. As a country who is all about surveillance and safety, of the hijab makes women feel this way, then it should in fact be embraced. Not opposed of.(Original post by MonkeyMan2009)

As for EDL, I believe they're ignorant. If only they took time out to talk to Muslims they'd see they are no harm to society.

I've had the misfortune to listen to a number of 'these people' in real life and fortuntely for us they have the brains of Fred Flintsone.

So do the BNP.
I think there's better ones out there though
