Been off sick and have interview next week
I've been off sick today and think it's likely I will have to take tomorrow off as well as I have been feverish and slept for about 4 hours in the day today. Coincidentally I have been offered an interview next Monday that pays a fair bit more than my current job. I have asked for the interview to be fitted in my lunch hour as this new prospective firm is about a 10 minute walk from my current company, but it seems this 10 minute walk will be problematic. I have been told by the recruitment agent that they expect the interview to take up the full hour at least and they will not look kindly on me getting there 10 minutes after the supposed start time due to the time it takes to get there.
I was planning to say I have an appointment at a bank or something for financial advice and ask for a longer lunch but feel more dodgy doing this on the day on Monday as I won't be in tomorrow and will have had 2 days off sick the week before. How should I best to handle this other than turning down the interview? Should I just say I am having an interview and need 20 minutes or so longer for lunch that I will make up later? -

Don't say that you have an interview, just say that you have a doctors appointment and your GP is a little while away, ask if you can come to work earlier or go home later to make up the extra 20 minutes? Alternatively you could just get a taxi? I know it'd be abit annoying getting it for a journey which is only a 10 minute walk but as you said, it could make all the difference?
