Already a similar thread.
I don't have a problem with it and America are pretty good across the board, they just happen to be miles ahead in swimming (like us in track cycling). -
Re: They should slim down the swimmingAthletics, Wrestling, Shooting, Basketball, Womens football Gymnastics. They still have a lot of medal chances.(Original post by The_Great_One)
The only reason the Americans do so well is because they have a million chances in the swimming where as in other sports they're not as good. I was wrong about team gb they have proven me wrong. -

really need to slim down on the cycling and rowing/canoeing as well, these are elitists sports that the majority of the world is unable to participate in due to lack of equipment, wait that's 10 of 11 GB gold medals, guess we need to keep these to allow elitist countries a chance to win some sports.

Re: They should slim down the swimming
It's ridiculous that the US has won around 30 medals / 15 golds in the swimming alone.. swap our medals in the pool for theirs and they'd be competing with us / France etc right now. I'd say they need to trim down the amount of events if it's just the US that're likely to win, as it was here when pretty much every race the US one they were expected to do so. It would be nice if other nations including ours made a stab at it, but I don't see that changing and it just feels like a free pass for the US atm. It's slightly akin to our cyclists, but we don't really win that many and it's only been a recent thing, whereas with the US it seems to be the same thing over and over.
