Re: Anyone starting the LPC with NCLT?I'm thinking of. I'm between going to the College of Law Chester or the NCLT in Manchester. Although the College of Law is much closer to my home, the fees with the NCLT are much lower.(Original post by maminushka)
Anyone starting the LPC in September 2012 with NCLT?
I have a few days to think about it before I have to accept my College of Law application. -
Re: Anyone starting the LPC with NCLT?NCLT is a collaboration between UWE and Central law Training.(Original post by KateLynn)
Has anyone been or does anyone know someone who has been here??!! Is it meant to be a better or worse LPC provider than Uni's like Westminster, Met and West London??!
There is absolutely NO information about this online
You won't have have heard of Central Law Training but virtually all law firm partners will have done so because they are the leading outside provider of face to face CPD courses and until about 5 years ago, when methods of communication changed, they would have had a weekly, and at times daily mailshot of course flyers from CLT. -
Re: Anyone starting the LPC with NCLT?
Ok.... so is it meant to be a good place to study the LPC. SO SO much cheaper than BPP and COL- but I am willing to pay the money if it is worth it. I did my GDL at BPP, and got a good grade and now have a TC.
Don't know what to do! if anyone has studied at NCLT, Westminster or London MET please share your experiences! I just really havn't met anyone who has! -
Re: Anyone starting the LPC with NCLT?I too am in the same hole!.(Original post by KateLynn)

I've looked and there is NOTHING online.
The one thing I'd like to know is what are their pass rates compared to CoL/BPP. If they are similar then surely they must be ok?.
I'm kinda hoping that as they're smaller they will give you more attention, but who knows! -
Re: Anyone starting the LPC with NCLT?I really don't know what to do.(Original post by KateLynn)
So what are you thinking if you really can't find any information?
I think I might just give in and attend the classic COL or BPP. Maybe a safer option.
They are regulated by the SRA so I'm assuming they MUST be decent?
What I'd like to see is their pass rate. If they could tell me their pass rate and it was decent then I'd have no hesitation going with them. I think I'll phone them tomorrow about this, and if I hear anything I'll let you know.
I don't want to go for BPP/CoL just because their 'big names'. As I think it's just like Supermarkets - Tesco is more well known, but Lidl have just as good (if not better) products!.
So tempted, but the lack of info seriously worries me (like you!). -

Re: Anyone starting the LPC with NCLT?Hi,
Just come across this. We are a collaboration of Central Law Training and the University of the West of England. We deliver the University of the West of England's Legal Practice Course at a number of different study centres across the UK making it more accessible.
We are indeed a registered provider and our course regulated by the SRA, therefore meeting all the needs of the governing body and covering all the same content of that of our competitors. You may also be interested to know that the University of the West of England's Legal Practice Course (which is what we deliver) was one of the only to receive consistent 'excellent' rating from the SRA when this rating system was in place.
We endeavour to provide an excellent service to our students, I shall post a link to this thread on our official twitter page and see whether any current students would like to comment.
Please let me know if you have any questions
Best wishes,

Re: Anyone starting the LPC with NCLT?
Hi
I have recently completed the NCLT 2 year part time (weekends) LPC in London and would recommend it whole heartedly as an alternative to the 'big providers'. You get the same level of tuition etc for a bargain price. Although NCLT offer various study centres, the LPC is actually awarded by the University of the West of England in Bristol so it is worth having a look at their website too. They have consistently achieved the highest rating possible for their LPC.
I'm not sure of the pass rate percentages but I achieved a Commendation grade and many of my friends achieved Distinction grades. On the back of that, I have recently been offered an NQ position (as I am exempt from the Training Contract) at a top regional firm so know that the course is looked upon as favourably as any other LPC.
Cheers -

NCLT Student SupportOhhhh, If I had known this earlier I would have confirmed my place on the full time LPC in Manchester. But during the time I (and a friend) was waiting for more info and an email from them - they had cancelled the course. GUTTED!(Original post by Twinklepigeon)

Out of interest NCLT - how many more people did you need to confirm the place for the course to run?. In other words, if I had confirmed earlier (say July) would the course have ran?? Or were you in need of more students?! Please tell me that it wasn't just one extra you needed!
Was really looking forward starting with them too! (it was ideal as it was on a Saturday / Friday).
BTW - any tips for those who want to keep our jobs and do the LPC - is it do-able?! -

We needed around 5 more people so no need to feel bad! We are still running the course part time at our Manchester centre if this is of interest at all and the full time in our Derby centre?
On your comment about working during the LPC, a number of our students work full time on the part time course but we do advise if you are studying the full time course to put aside 40 hours per week for self study on top of your workshops.
Best wishes,
NCLT Support
