Need help with phone contract while going abroad
I've just started my first mobile contract and having never done had one before, I'm unsure of a few things and would appreciate some help.
I'm going abroad on Sunday and as I have a monthly contract with TalkTalk, how exactly will I be charged for texts? From the research I've done, it seems that any texts I make will be added to my monthly bill and I'll just get more debited from my account, so is that correct?
Also, everywhere I look, it says I need to set up 'roaming' abroad 24hrs before I leave - what is this? Would I need to set this up in order to text from abroad and receive them (as I don't intend on making/receiving calls or using data)? I tried to set it up anyway by calling 5888 but for some reason, my phone wouldn't connect to that number today and it normally does...
Any help would be great thanks as I have tried google and I can't quite find the info I need :/
