KCL vs Warwick vs Newcastle vs Kent
    Hi all,
I need to decide for a postgrad taught programme in International Political Economy in the next week and would really really appreciate some help in this since I find it very difficult.
    I hold unconditional offers from

    1. King's College London
    2. University of Kent (Brussels School of International Studies)
    3. Warwick University
    4. Newcastle University

Right now I can't tell which one of them is best.
Does anyone have a wellfounded opinion on that?

Thanks a lot in advance !!!

Warwick. It's got one of the best Economics departments in the country, not to mention it's a top 10 uni.
I don't really know much about international reputation, KCL would probably beat Warwick at that in all fairness, since it's a University of London.
If you want world-class teaching quality go to Warwick! :-)

International Political Economy wont be in the econ department, it sounds more like a polsci/IR course

    My bad
Still if I had to choose, I'd go with Warwick in a heartbeat!

Are you an international student? Do you intend to go back to your country?

Check which university is more recognised where you intend to work and live, and give it significant weight in your decision. From what I understand, KCL would be more recognised internationally. With that said, Warwick is miles ahead of KCL.

Thanks for the replies! Is Warwick really that much better for studying political and social sciences than KCL?
I am from France and here Warwick is not really well known. I thought that KCL is at least (at the minimum the Art & Humanities) on a par with UCL, Saint Andrews, Warwick ?
I would love to live in London and thought that KCL was a top-university, so, until now, I wanted to with KCL.
But if Warwick is really that much better for studying IPE and generally has a better reputation than KCL I should probably change my mind...

Internationally speaking, KCL might have a better reputation because it's got "London" in its name, so people outside the UK already know you went to university in London without you even say so.
Also it's part of the University of London group, which does carry additional prestige. Saying you went to university in London is one thing, saying you went to uni in Coventry is another.
Still Warwick is more prestigious nationwide.
What you need to figure out is what you want to do afterwards. Do you have your heart set on relocating to the UK after you finish your MSc or do you wanna go back to France?
If you are planning on staying in the UK afterwards (or more specifically London) then go to Warwick.

I was in the same boat a few months ago and had to decide if I wanted to go to a university (QMUL) which is also part of the University of London group or another uni (York) in the UK for an MSc in a completely different field (Computer Science).
I ended up choosing York (which is a top 10 in CS) even though it doesn't carry the London name.

I almost forgot to say I'm also an international student. :-)
