It can take a couple of weeks to get your first payment. It'll be the amount you are owed for that whole period though.
If you really want to know what the hold up is (if any), give benefit enquiries a ring. I should say that at busy times of the year it can take longer than usual. July/August is usually busier due to lots of grads signing on for the first time.
