I ask the same to myself. To answer your questions: history repeats. Although people were more modern from time to time, they are the same one with the same folly and vices. There are things which won't never change.

Certainly not. Egypt, Persia and Rome/Greece spring to mind, not the UK.

However, ours is certainly high on the list of interesting events and history.

British history is I daresay more interesting and relevant than the histories of civilisations of antiquity (although I'm sure some will beg to differ on this). Heck, it's more interesting than most histories.

But it doesn't make sense. It's not like asking who is the greatest ever football team, which is subjective but is still able to be debated by comparing number of trophies, comparing the era each team played in, tactics, the teams rivals etc.

Yes but 'best' is subjective. I would say the most interesting comes into it alot. And let's be honest, I don't think any country in the world (except perhaps russia) has had a more traumatic existence, and I think that makes it truly interesting to say the least.

Yeah, I would put Germany second personally. They have a fascinating history. From the Holy Roman Empire to the Austro-Prussian dualism of the 19th century that resulted in its eventual formation. Not forgetting the World Wars and the Cold War too of course.

We certainly do have some of the most interesting history in the world, especially the Tudor period.

Or at least that's what I felt after primary school history.

Italy has some interesting eras too. My favorite is the Renaissance in which many well-known artists bequeathed many artworks for the next generations. Without this era, the life of artist would be poorer a bit today.
