    Going straight into 2nd year.
I'm a little worried about going straight into 2nd year of university (HND qualification) and I'm just not sure what to expect. I have no idea what to expect at university, what the classes will be like, how difficult it will be and so on.

If anyone has any experiences of going straight into 2nd/3rd, would greatly help my worry.

I'm sure the University wouldn't put you in there if you couldn't handle it. If it is worrying you perhaps you should ask if you can do the first year? A boy who was in the year 1 of our course when I was doing my foundation (year 0) asked if he could do the year 0 as he didn't feel prepared and they allowed him. The benefits however of jumping straight into 2nd year is only 2 years til you get a degree and hopefully less expensive? It's really what you feel comfortable with and if the University will allow it.

I'm confident that I'll manage the work as I'll put in the effort, I would just like to know the level difference, the different teahing styles, joining a class that has been together for a year already, how classes run and do projects and such, since it isn't 1st year where you are guided to how university run things, ill be jumping in head first and so on.

Just made this thread to get personal experiences and see if they are what I've got in my head.

I think you'll be just fine. Don't worry about the Uni pressure. Just make sure you attend your lectures as keep up to date with all tutorials. It was kind of important to make sure you collect all handouts given by lecturers. As they contain all the hints you need for the exams.

Also there will be other people who are also in a similar situation as you, coming from college to uni in your course. Even if there wasn't Robert Gordon is a friendly uni where I'm sure people will want to know you well. So just be confident and chill oot.

I'll be going straight into the 2nd year of a BSc(Hons) in 2013. I think you'll be fine and you should settle in quickly. I doubt you'll be the only one entering the second year there anyway.

Thanks for the help guys, I managed to speak to RGU group specific to this matter and have told me plenty of information to get rid of a lot of unknowns and I stop a lot of anxiety.
