What is the difference between these two subjects?
Biomedical Engineering and Medical Engineering?
I am starting my HNC this year and plan to do my HND and then top up to Biomedical Engineering.
Can anyone give me a brief description of the subjects you learn in both courses and just wondering, is it true that if you do really well in a Biomedical Engineering test, you can specialise even further and actually become a doctor?
I really want to go down the route of prosthesis like bionic limbs. The reason why i want to go down this route is because i truly do believe bionic limbs can make life better for us all. -
Re: What is the difference between these two subjects?
Hi I'm studying Biomedical engineering at the university of Glasgow, and the main difference with medical and biomedical engineering is that medical engineering focuses more on tech, where as biomedical engineering is on studies directly involving the body. An example would be tissue engineering wouldn't normally be covered in medical engineering but is in biomedical engineering. Similar to biochemistry and chemistry. Biochemistry is focused more on biological aspects of chemistry. And being a biomedical engineer doesn't make you a medical practitioner, you could go on to do medicine as a post grad, if that's what you mean, but so can anyone with a science based degree.
hope this has helped
cheers -
Re: What is the difference between these two subjects?
I chose Mechanical Engineering over Electrical Engineering, will i be able to qualify? Or is both Mechanical and Electrical welcomed?
I am doing a HNC and i will want to get into uni as soon as possible so i am thinking of ignoring the HND and just do the HNC, if i become desperate, i will do the HND or do a foundation degree.
What do you do in Biomedical Engineering TDUBBER86? Topics you research, do you enjoy it? Is it a great challenge and can it open many doors further into Mechanical Engineering and towards a medical career if desired?
