Re: What to wear to a job interview at a clothes store?Yes. Most clothes shop managers are actually chosen on the basis of their multi levelled concept of irony.(Original post by TheSownRose)
You could be ironic and wear nothing.
Although, I would be more impressed if the interview was in Coventry. -
Re: What to wear to a job interview at a clothes store? Is there no way to combine the two? Smart, but fashion conscious?(Original post by zuqqer)
I have an interview tomorrow at M&Co for a part time sales assistant. What do I wear to this? I was thinking smart but my boyfriend said fashionable. Any help?

Re: What to wear to a job interview at a clothes store?Whilst this is true for the most part (as in its a good assumption to have), it's not always going to do you favours. If you turn up to an interview with an Apple employer in a suit, be sure to know that you'll instantly come off as a specifically in-the-box individual. Not all employers are looking for that, so if there's any doubt, it's worth making an innocent enquiry with the reception of the place you're being interviewed.(Original post by BaldFadedBrother)
I'll say it again...
Interview Attire: Always 100% formal, unless STATED otherwise. And if you don't know, then better to be safe than sorry.
So for guys this is a suit, and woman... I guess a blouse/shirt, dress and shoes. -

Could wear a nice black pencil skirt, a nice blouse (blouse doesn't have to be plain, sometimes you see women wearing floral work blouses) and pretty heels.

Re: What to wear to a job interview at a clothes store?
I work in a clothes shop, been through the interview process and have seen which girls get selected, which don't. Based on my experience, this is my advice:-
You need to look smart, but at the same time demonstrate that you are aware of current trends. Before your interview, go by the shop and see what trends they are displaying, and try to incorporate these into your outfit somehow. Go on to their website and see what they are promoting the most, these should also be included in your outfit if possible. Clothes shops usually have high hair / makeup standards too, so make sure your nails are looking clean and polished, your hair is neat, and your makeup is subtle but pretty. Smile a lot and demonstrate good people skills, politeness, awareness of current trends and confidence.
Hope this helps - and good luck.
