    American liberal who use the whole damn continent of europe as a benchmark like we are some homogenous entity, "oh well why can't X law or X societal attitude be more like it is in europe" are just as ignorant as American conservatives who use the same white wash argument when talking about how bad we are because of "socialism".

    Not really. On the whole, Europe is in it's entirety pretty different to America. It's quite a convenient benchmark and allows people to discuss stuff without having to refer to specific countries.

    Do you think the conversation should be "why don't we have a health system more like France" when very few people in America know that much about the specifics of the french healthcare system. The fact that most countries in Europe have a primarily public funded healthcare system makes it any easy talking point.

    Making a generalization isn't always akin to exhibiting ignorance.
