Re: Would it be worth doing more a-levels during uni?
I don't think so. With the English education system it seems to be the case that the previous level doesn't matter once you are onto the next one, ergo once you have your A levels, GCSEs mean nothing and once you have your uni degree A levels don't bear that much significance either. Just concentrate on your uni work is my advice!

Re: Would it be worth doing more a-levels during uni?Not at the firms which automatically screen applications, and therefore cut anyone who doesnt meet the minimum requirements without looking at the rest of the application. Unless of course you have mitigating circumstances.(Original post by NGC773)
Do high university / GDL / LPC marks really mean A-levels are overlooked? -
Re: Would it be worth doing more a-levels during uni?
Unfortunately where Law is concerned, A Levels still matter even when you have your degree. Like mentioned above, many applicants will have AAA+ and a 2.1, and a lot of the bigger firms have minimum A Level requirements in addition to having a 2.1.
I would get the C up to an A - you don't want to do more and risk your degree grades. However, a lot of firms also specify the A Levels must have been achieved 'in one sitting' ie over a 2 year period. You need to research this before you make any decisions. -
Re: Would it be worth doing more a-levels during uni?
Your a-level grades will definitely still matter, even if you have brilliant uni and LPC results - I was told once by an interviewer that they were concerned with my ABB at A-level. But it was mitigated by the fact that I'd consistently performed well at uni and beyond.
It depends what kind of firms you're aiming for as well. If you want mid to large London firms, they usually have strict grade requirements; AAA - AAB.
But then again, consider all your options before you do a grade retake. -
Re: Would it be worth doing more a-levels during uni?I was always told the one thing you should do well at uni is your degree, and your attention should be on that. There's always night school afterwards, which you could do while having a temporary job? It's your call though, maybe chat to a careers person? :-)(Original post by NGC773)
As I see a lot of Law firms require AAA/AAB at a-level would it be worth doing some intensive a-levels during uni to raise grades to that level if I dont currently have them? atm i have ABC -
Re: Would it be worth doing more a-levels during uni?Where are you going to do your intensive alevels?(Original post by NGC773)
All of my university marks have been 2:1s and firsts, this is first year however. I think I might do two intensive a-levels during my second year. -
Re: Would it be worth doing more a-levels during uni?
Retake the C grade. Above posters are right, you'd have to get a 1st from a reputable uni to stand out above the pack of AAA+ers. There are so many applicants now that I wouldn't be surprised if they looked at your GCSEs too in some firms. They certainly ask for them on the form.
As for uni grades - HR told me that what they most want to see is a progression. Your grades should be improving year on year and should be consistent.
