Am I being petty or is it my friend?
I recently started jogging, literally only about a week ago as part of my new effort to get fit again. I prefer jogging by myself as I find it distracting jogging with other people. Then suddenly my friend, who until I started jogging the other day had expressed no interest in starting jogging suddenly decided he was going to start doing it too. I wouldn't mind if it was because he wanted to get fit for himself as well, but he said the reason is he doesn't want me getting fitter than him, as if it's some sort of competition. He pretty much said he was going to tag along on one of my jogs, which I told him I didn't really want him doing because I prefer doing it alone and he got offended and said I was up to something and being petty. But in reality the reason I don't want to jog with him is because he's irritatingly competitive and would turn something that's meant to be just for general fitness into a competition.

well i guess if it will speed up the jog dramatically if he get's competitive

that or let him run like the wind and you just enjoy your jog as he sprints away

Maybe your friend was inspired to get fit because you were, but if hes treating fitness as a competition which from what you've described it sounds like, then it's just petty.
