freshers week for those who dont drink
From friends who go to uni plus teachers at school freshers week was described as something along the lines of a constant party. I was just wondering how things end up for guys who dont drink due to personal choice. I guess those who are religious end up with like minded people but then again i could be wrong.

No, you're going to sit into the dark and do nothing. Of course there'll be something for you to do, look at the different societies, talk to your flat mates or you could even, and this is just an idea, go out on the club nights with them and simply not drink alcohol. It's quite funny to watch your friends get off their tits and make a fool of themselves, it's even funnier to then persuade them that they've done something the morning after. But yes, I can assure you there will be plenty to do which doesn't involve or revolve around alcohol.

You can still get involved in everything they do.

Be forewarned that they may try pressure you into drinking when they realise it's out of personal choice, and not religious or medical.

People who don't drink because of their religion don't drink due to personal choice.

There is obviously a difference, though. Why even try nitpick that?

As long as you still make an effort to get involved, then it won't be a problem. Some of my friends don't drink, but they still go out to clubs with us and just drink a coke - I think they have a better time just laughing at us being stupidly drunk. You may feel slightly pressured into it, probably at pres, but once you're out no one cares. I don't care and neither do people I know, some comments might be said to you, but everyone gets over it. It becomes a problem when someone doesn't bother making an effort.

Even if you get asked to go to the pub, don't dismiss it just because you don't drink. People who have a problem that you don't drink aren't worth your time.

i thought freshers was gonna be a real 'mare as i don't drink...but it's ok if you stand your ground and don't feel pressurised into 'having a few' because everyone thinks you're an alien for not drinking. you can still have a good time with a j2o you know! you can just end up looking after everyone else when they're ill after too much drink

Uni is a big place and therefore you should expect to find people with common views on drinking as yourself. And also I'm sure that most people won't even care if you drink or not. If what you say is true, you sure had a weird school. o.O

the subjects were languages and arts stuff which i found boring, fortunately engineering is pretty much just maths and physics so i dont have to worry about being bored

Then you'll be on good terms with everyone, I'm sure.

Out of curiosity, what is the reason of you not drinking?

I've started training something, which can be called a combat sport a few months ago, so you have my respect already.

I dont drink. I'll be out with everyone during Freshers. I go clubbing and everything and have a good time. I dont care what people think.
Whether its personal choice, health reasons, religion don't let them try and pressure.

Just go out and have fun. Join in rather then excluding yourself because one or two people have said something.

lol, and what level do you compete at? Do you really think drinking socially will affect your training?

I didn't drink at uni, either, for the same reasons - I thought it would totally wreck my oh-so-important gains and ruin my chances of becoming one of the top-ten least weak people in my local gym. Very important stuff, obviously. Definitely worth completely alienating yourself from your peers, I'm sure they'll really respect your "work ethic" and superhardtraining, bro.

Aww someone is bitter they gave up alcohol and theyre still weak and small

OP never mentioned doing it to gain respect from others matey. If someone wants to, as you said, alienate themselves from their peers it's their decision.

If no one did it, everyone would be a silly little sheep, like yourself.

    Have a gooden.
