Just tried More Than for a quote on that exact car and I couldn't even get one, 19 year old with a year old license. Something's up here.

I suspect we're being trolled (crap trolling if it is) or the OP has misread/misunderstood the quote he's been given. Sounds too good to be true.
The 0 to 60 time shouldn't really be an issue, plus good luck with that time in a car that's done 125,000 miles, maybe you people so wowed by the 0 to 60 time aren't safe to drive yet.

Insurance in cars that younguns don't usually drive is a lot cheaper.

Everyone says that, hardly true....

I've searched near 50 different cars ranging from 1.0 - 2.0 and I can assure you 100% that the bigger the engine the more expensive, in my case anyway of course.

I done mondeos/Ford Escort estates/Ovtacias and so many more, and the all come out over £5000

That's one advantage of being old. I can get insurance on a BMW 5 Series and E Class Mercedes for £1500. Considering you get 17 year olds who are quoted double that for an ancient 1.2 Corsa I'd say that's quite good going.

Am going to hazard guess this is a troll thread, entered details for my eldest and as an 18 year old female, even in a very nice part of Oxfordshire they won't even insure her.

Really?? Mind sharing which insurance company? Looking at the same exact Volvo but insurance is in the £4,000 but a 1.2l Polo is £2,500

I just did it on confused.com a couple of years ago when i had just passed. I ended up with a completely different car, but it was £900ish for the volvo and 2k for the polo. I do live in the countryside etc so that does often chance things.

Yea this is so messed up. I'm 19 with 1 years no claims and I currently pay £1100 on a 1.2 8v Punto. I was looking at audi's just the other week (mainly A3's) and I could barely get insured on the standard 1.6 petrols. They wouldn't touch me on the 1.9 TDI's and the 1.8T petrols were out of this world.

You've either somehow glitched the insurance system, put your date of birth as 1984 instead of 1994 or the actual insurance policy will be so bad that you'll be practically uninsured.

Also like others have mentioned, that car will give you hell. My dad had a very similar aged A4 that had done 130k miles and was a diesel (meant to last alot longer than the petrols!), he had an endless list of problems. His turbo went, all the belts snapped, he was getting random knocking noises constantly. He was spending £1500 within 3 weeks just to keep it on the road. Good luck.

Are you sure it wasn't a monthly/first payment of £958.18?

Otherwise you've made a mistake, or I'm calling bs.

I tried that site, admittedly this was the first time I'm even hearing of the site's existence and it brought up quite a few insurance companies that I had never heard off and many of them were significantly cheaper. But am trying to get insurance for an 18 year old female in Burford, Oxfordshire which is in the countryside, it still seems to be in the £2,500 and the VW drops to the £1,500 range. Interestingly when I changed the car to a Volvo V50 1.6D with the same engine and performance as the C30 the insurance rates is around the VW Polo 1.2 range and the same goes for the more expensive and powerful Volvo V60. Seems as a medical student you do need to pay more in insurance as well.

It was definitely 958. Another car coming up cheap is a late 90s Merc E300 Diesel.

You lot can believe I'm chatting s*** if you want. I just thought I'd try and be helpful and advise others to try car insurance on cars you wouldn't associate with a 17 year old.

A 1.8T Audi A4 saloon (95-01) is quoted as an insurance group 30 on Parkers.

A 1.2 16v SXi Corsa (00-04) is quoted as an insurance group 7 on Parkers.

Now can you see why people find it unbelievable that you can get the audi for £900 but something like a corsa is more expensive?

Post a screenshot of the quote or it never happened.
I bet what's happened is the details from confused.com haven't transferred over properly to MoreThan.com and given a warped quote - the exact same thing has happened to me a few times - "Cor, that's a cheap quote..." *checks details and there's several bits wrong*. :frown:
