Hi guys! I have been offered a room at Wells Terrace. I wanted a room on campus but... Do you guys know anything about that flat?

Thank you in advance!
Hey,

Are there any private halls near the campus, closer than the ones in Coventry.

There are some flats in various locations nearby but I don't know if the buildings they're in are entirely taken up by students. Try also looking for a room in a regular-sized house in the Canley and Cannon Park areas.

Thanks, I'll have a look. They have offered me a place about 7 miles away from campus with no direct buses to the campus. Bit daft :/

Well there is a bus stop right outside, and given it is on Hearsall Lane it'll be right by the common. The bus ride to campus is probably about 10-15 minutes, and it is also cyclable if you would prefer.

There are loads of corner shops in that area, and you can walk to Morrisons or get the bus to Sainsbury's - or indeed pick stuff up at the Tesco next to campus.

The majority of people do live in Leamington, but plenty also do live in Coventry - and of course you can go out in either place.

Choosing accommodation is driving me crazy right now.

Does anyone have any idea of what Sherbourne is like?

Also, I'm a little worried about living in a flat. Can any Warwick people tell me their experiences of it?

I lived in Sherbourne this year! My flat were lovely, and it means that you make really close friendships and there's a lot of security (nobody randomly wandering into your kitchen/stealing your food). Main downside is that it's more difficult to socialise with other flats, as the door sort of closes behind you and locks, but it means you have to just make the effort, rather than being lazy! I'm living with 5 out of 12 of my flat mates this year, so I guess that shows how close we all are!

It's so clean and cosy because it's new, and the kitchens are really big. I actually loved being a little bit out of the way because it meant that when the big nights at the SU were going on, I didn't have to join in when I'd rather be in bed. (I'm not an anti-social person). During the day, and for clubnights, there's a shuttle bus system that runs to campus/the SU, so if you're not a fan of walking you can use that.

I'm hoping to get Sherbourne this year. Did you manage to make friends with people in the other flats?
Do you have any of your own pictures of what it is like?

Yeah, I was quite close to I'd say about 4 other flats, and then had friends dotted about around other flats so socialised with them quite a lot. You have to be sociable, but it's not impossible!

I actually don't...which I am now thinking is kinda weird....

It's good to hear that you managed to make friends with other flats as this was the only thing that was really worrying me about my choices as I wanted to be in the newer accommodation.

Never mind about the pictures I just wanted to see how it looked with people actually living in it.

Do they have an intercom system or do you have to go downstairs every time a friend comes round to open the door?

I just hope I get the results I need to get in.

They have wifi now (you might have been reading something out of date). Here is the latest information on which halls have wifi: http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/its/servicessupport/networkservices/resnet/wirelessproject/

That's great, thank you! I don't have to buy the wire-thing for MacAir now:smile:
As for the out of date - they still have it (the wired version) on the official description pages of the residencies, probably because they have just finished wifi-ing everything in April 2013)
does anyone know when unconditional firmers can expect to receive accommodation?
