Anyone applying for Swanborough? Still torn between East slope (best social life) and Swanborough (for location and en suite... I'm a hygiene freak ) Anyone in a similar predicament?

I was torn for the exact same reason, but ultimately I'd like the option to "leave the party" as I feel that East Slope would be partying 24/7. Swanborough is quite central on campus and en suite was important for me too. So I've applied and put Swanborough as my first preference!

The more I look at the accommodation YouTube videos, the more appealing Swanborough gets. I think I'll put it down for first choice  Hopefully this year there will be some parties/socialising at Swanborough, I've seen a few posts on here saying its one of the less lively accommodations... When did you get your accommodation application? I haven't had mine yet :s-smilie:

Yea, I'm hoping the same. It depends on your roommates and everything as well. Hopefully it's a good decision! And I only just applied yesterday.

Are the replies to accommodation like a first com first serve thing? Like if you get your reply back quickly are you more likely to get your first place? It's just my applicant visit day isn't until the end of April so it won't be for ages yet until I've physically seen the accommodation s I'm worried I'll be late to choose!

It's not first come first serve, they consider them at the same time, apart from those with unconditional offers who are definitely going, who get their letter of confirmation earlier. I don't think I applied until about July, but still got my first choice so you're definitely fine! haha :L
Hi guys! Has anyone received an online application form for accommodation yet from the university? I reallllyyyy want to get this sorted out asap

Okie dokie! Thank you very much for the reply
Has anyone else been sent the accomodation application link? I got it yesterday, and my first choice is Northfield, then Swanborough and finally Park Village en-suite. I'm not sure whether I might go back and add more preferences later or not

I got mine last night! I applied for East slope, park houses and park village in that order, do you think its worth adding more preferences?
Hi, I'm just finishing my first year at Sussex, definitely loved every moment here! Great uni!

About accommodation, I'm in LC phase 1, bock 1, so shared bathrooms between 6, quite sociable and a great place to have parties because it's right in the middle of the other halls. I've loved it and would defo recommend it, but I've been lucky to have great flatmates and neighbours this year, how social a place is can change every year.

Northfield and Swanborough are pretty much the same inside, it's just SB is much closer to the middle of campus and only has three blocks, so it's smaller. They are both lovely but tbh it's sooo much more expensive, still I would rather be in Lewes Court than there. If I had to pick though it would be Northfield because it's bigger and much more goes on there. Apparently not much ever happens in SB because it's pretty small, even though it's pretty central. (also a quick side note, EVERYONE can see into your living space and bedrooms in SB, if you're not careful due to the big windows etc, not very private there...)

The same goes for Stamner court, in terms of atmosphere, it's just over the road from campus but people always go to other places for parties etc. It's nice and has en-suites but people only go there if they live there, not really the place for a good party.

Brighthelm is the most oversubscribed place, for this year, there were 8 applicants for every bedroom! It's very nice there, the neighbours are close and a nice atmosphere, that was my second choice and would happily lived there! Always something going on! Plus washing machines which is a big thing when you leave home!

I wouldn't recommend Park village! It is liveable in but it's not amazingly nice, and the main thing is there is a small kitchen but no kitchen table or other living or social space apart from the landing, so people either eat alone in their rooms or sit on the floor in the landing bit, (or unless they have nicked a small table from somewhere else at uni). There is a social centre at the bottom and launderette etc.

Park houses are ok, great for parties because there are no doors into each stairway/ corridor, so that is both good and bad! Really sociable with lots of people, but not very private as anyone could go into your kitchen if they get in the building or generally clean as there are so many people! You can only apply to Park houses, and get either Kent House, York house, Lancaster House or Norwich House, you can't pick which one.

East slope is soooo much fun, parties all the time and East slope bar is right at the bottom, but personally I could never live there because it's grim! The people who do live there like it though!

Hope this helps you decide! Again I would definitely recommend Lewes Court phase 1 or Brighthelm, either is really good! Tbh you would be happy wherever you go, just make the most of it! The year goes so fast. One more thing, if you are really unhappy there is a swap list which usually works pretty quickly because a lot of people want to move when they first arrive,so you can sign up for that if you really hate it!

Hey so I've made Sussex my first choice (Journalism) although I haven't sorted out my accommodation yet. I do not know if I would like to live on or off campus but preferably would like to live with calm people that are into music/musicians seeing as I do a bit of that on the side. I play music quite loudly and am into reggae, jungle, jazz rap etc. would really like to live somewhere where people are calm about bunning and are sociable and wouldn't mind me having friends staying over.

What would be the best accommodation to find like-minded people who are up for a good night out but not really really annoying? If I lived off campus I could have house parties but I don't know what's best. Anyone have their own experiences and what campus would be best for me?
I've just finished my application and pre-payment. How long should I expect a decision to take?

Hi everyone! How long did it take for you to receive the link to the online application form? Because I have firmed a month ago and still didn't get anything. I'm starting to get worried. Is this common?

I saw that link online at the same time as my offer letter... Have you been here?

PS.: Suponho que em último caso não faça mal contactar alguém lá?
Hi.

I will be going to Sussex for my Msc in Childhood and Youth Studies in September. Can anyone suggest which accommodation is the best?
Hey Guys, I am an international student going to Sussex to study MSc. Development Economics. I chose park village, mainly for financial reasons. Could anyone tell me more about it ? I have seen the video's and read about it on the university website, but I am looking for more of an inside account.

Anything that you can tell me about it would be really helpful.

Thanks
Hi
I'll be going to sussex to study MSc. Development economics. I am confused about the accomodation as well. Are you looking for on campus or off campus residences ?

I'm looking for on-campus residences, but the options are making it hard to decide. Have you managed to decide anything yet?
