Royal Holloway social life

Ive heard many mixed reviews about the Royal Holloway social life, and apparently it has improved a lot in the last couple of years. I would just like to know, to the people who go to Royal Holloway what is the social life really life? Are there good clubs in Windsor any anywhere locally? Or is it mainly just pubs? Or would we have to go to London in order to have a good night out, inconvenient?

LASTLY are the majority of people there up for going out clubbing, obviously not every night but regularly? I love the uni and I'm not the one to go out every single night but I want to make sure there is a good social life

Hi there,

I've noticed that your thread hasn't yet had a response so I thought I might try and give you some helpful information.

Ultimately, a social life at any university is what you make of it yourself. Royal Holloway offers a best-of-both worlds environment where students can enjoy socialising in a tight-knit community on campus or they can go into London for bigger night club scene. With anything you want to do, where there's a will there's a way.

From what I've heard speaking with students, people mainly enjoy clubbing in central London, Windsor or the Students Union. Plus, never underestimate what living in campus halls can do for your social life! Royal Holloway also has a lot of sports clubs and societies to suit many tastes. Being in Surrey, the local area also provides opportunities for exploring the countryside, history and culture. There are also quite a number of pubs and restaurants in Egham and Englefield Green, the Monkey's Forehead being a very popular one!

I hope that helps,

Emily

It's terrible, just terrible. I started in September 2013 and transferred to UoN by January! But hey, that's just my experience, and I probably went into it with the wrong attitude anyway. The SU is reminiscent of a school disco and the pubs are fine if you have a proclivity for pie and veg with your alcohol.
