Hello,

I've accepted my offer and selected accommodation and am wondering if there's any way I can change my preferences? My budget's turned out slightly different than I thought it would when I applied for my accommodation so I'm looking to change it.

Hi,

UEA Accommodation Office can help you change your preferences for accommodation. Their contact details are [email protected] or 01603 592092.

Hope that helps

I stayed in the village and found that the social life was pretty good - I lived in a house of six flats, and we all knew each other and socialised together because the flats were that bit smaller. From what I've heard from friends in campus accommodation, they tended to get to know their flat and the flat opposite, but not the flats above or below them, so the village might work out as a bit more sociable... But both are lovely!
UEA is my second option, can I still apply for accomodations there?

By the way, not the right thread, but English is my second languague, however I did year 11, 1 year 3 BTEC and my A-levels here, would I still need to do those english tests? Forgot how they are called

I've applied for an MPharm for 2014-does that mean I'm part of the Health Undergraduate application, or shall I apply for a normal undergraduate application? I think Pharmacy is just classified as a Science, but just double checking!

I also want to put the student village as my accommodation choice, I didn't view it when I visited UEA but the price and description seems to suit me. Has anyone actually seen the village? What was it like?

What have you guys put as your back up accommodation choice? I haven't even thought of it yet :frown: I'm certain I want an en-suite, though!

Pharmacy is faculty of science.

It's a bit old, but other than that it's not bad. When I was there last year we didn't have wifi but I think they are installing it over the summer. It's about 5-10 minute walk from the university, 3 minutes or so on a bike. I recommend getting a bike (pick up a cheap one off gumtree/ebay) they save you a lot of time. I lived in a relatively small house only 4 flats so we got to know everyone really well.
Anyone with pictures or more information on the premier accommodation pls

Hi,

Yes you would need to apply for accommodation, even if UEA is your second choice.

Your question about the English tests (known as IELTS) would depend on the requirements for the course you’ve applied for and whether you have a conditional offer. I would recommend contacting UEA Admissions to check whether they expect you to complete the IELTS. Their email address is [email protected] and you would need to give them your student number so they can check it out for you

Hi,

For more information you can click on the following link and open the pdf named ‘Accommodation Guide’ at the bottom of the webpage. The premier accommodation can be found on page 36.

Unfortunately there are not many photos but there is a floor plan. Prices can be found on the main accommodation webpage -

Hope that helps a bit

I'm really torn between en suite campus and the student village. I only viewed the campus accommodation, but from what I have heard the student village is significantly smaller, hence the lower price, yet I wasn't massively impressed by the en suite campus accommodation. I really don't want a tiny room/kitchen but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra money to move to campus? Are all of the rooms guaranteed to be larger and have better facilities? And what about the social life between the two options-is it much different? I like the idea of the student village, but isn't it a little secluded?

I'd really appreciate any advice!

Thanks

All the rooms and bathrooms on campus are bigger than the ones in the village, some significantly more so. I don't think the village is secluded tbh because there are several halls there and its only across the road from campus.
Hey,

I've got an unconditional offer from UEA, so I'll be attending in September.

How come all rooms have single beds?
I've put standard campus as my first choice, but I'm considering changing it to en suite campus. To do this I would need to spend most of my savings on living costs as my student loan will only just cover the cost of accommodation and I can't get any help from my parents. My question is, is it worth changing for the sake of a nicer room with an en suite for 38 weeks? Or should I just suck it up and be more financially stable?

Yes in short its larger and better so I think it would be worth it, but I was in the ensuite village.

I'm just a little worried about affording any trips I have as part of the course :P

Because all rooms are only designed for one person. They are normal singles, not those really thin ones.

Personally, I wanted an ensuite so went village, add I could cover it with my SF money. But I have never, ever, heard anyone say they wish they had paid more and got one after living in the ziggurats. Generally sharing a bathroom is not an issue, and I think you'll look back afterwards and think I'm glad I didn't spend all that extra money, especially if you're going to be using up your savings. However, I can't vouch personally for Orwell and Wolfson, Maybe look in to those more using search in this thread and consider switching to standard ziggurat.

Would anyone be interested in renting out a flat near the uni, preferably a couple who are in the same position i.e. boyfriend does not attend the uni and so cannot apply for uni accommodation? Not necessarily a couple but a flat of mixed gender would be fun

it was the 31st july so you'll have just missed it unless you applied last night. Still worth applying just in case but it depends on demand if they can find you a room.
Ziggurat is booking up so you better be quick! I heard they are offering some discount rooms though which is even better!

Err what? It's not first come first served and they don't do discounts.
