Hannah, you're not the only one! I bought tickets but I honestly can't be bothered to go anymore, just don't see the appeal of being trapped in a boiling room full of sweaty people :/

I bought the Couch Potato ticket just to socialise but I hate clubbing so much. I probably won't go to all the events tbh, especially the really clubby ones!
So if you ever want to meet up for something other than drinking (like a movie or a gathering somewhere) just give a shout out!
ew! filthy nerds. Get away from me

YES! You lot are my people... you are my type of people,

Just wondering where I can find people like you..... I was thinking freshers fayre, because then you find all the societies etc.
I feel like i'm filming a wildlife documentary, i keep to the perimeter of everyone in my hall, never initiating conversation, just observing students in their natural habitats.
that is to say i have zero friends yet :'(
I suppose i could contribute that to my introvertedness, and the fact that i look 3/4 years older than i am on account of premature receding hairline.
Also, clubs aren't my "thing" either
There was an outdoor screening of pulp fiction for friday
But it's sold out *more manly tears shed*

Do people at brookes in Paul kent want to meet up? Because so far I have only met people wanting to go to clubs!
Any groups on Facebook you can check out? I know one of my friends going to uni this year, despite being up for drinking/clubbing (to a degree), has found a non-clubbing group for her uni on Facebook.

Getting straight to the point...I don't drink and I HATE clubbing. Obviously freshers is coming up and I am dreading it :/ I want to make new friends but I'm worried I'm going to be excluded and people will think I'm weird or unsocial. I don't mind chilling at a pub, but I am much more of a cuppa and chat/movie night in/cinema/shopping ect kind of girl. I'm not shy or a particulary nervous person. All the people i've met so far on fb are already planning all their nights out and drinking schedule and I already feel left out :/ Please tell me there's others like me? :frown:

I've just finished my first week of lectures. I don't mind drinking but have never been clubbing. (19 and live where I go to uni) and my first week has gone fine tbh  Not been on any nights out, no-one's had an issue with it and I've still made friends. It's all good  However I might be going out tomorrow night with a friend from college, so it may change slightly. But yeah under those circumstances my first week has been fine

I'm the same as well - I enjoy a drink with friends but not the way most people do. In my halls most people are going out to all the parties, unlike me. I'm very lucky to have someone living opposite me who feels the same way.
The best advice is probably to join a social club and meet people through there, or even on your course - there are probably people who feel the same way as well.
Hope this works and you enjoy uni!
