I want to take a gap year and go travelling, is it a bad idea going alone?

I have applied to uni and had offers back but recently going to uni just isn't appealing to me as much! All my friends have had offers too and are set on going so if I do take a year off to travel I will have to go on my own, is this a bad idea?

Depends where you go, if you are brave, and know your surroundings

It's not as scary as one might think. It depends on where you want to travel. Obviously you would be more worried about personal safety if traveling around under-developed countries. I just stuck to western European countries and was fine. You just need to plan well and do your research.

When you are traveling there is always the pleasant surprise of meeting new people r at the hostel. You may even meet a travel buddy there.
