What is the best way to find an internship?

I've just read a blog 'to Swipe or not to Swipe' http://bit.ly/1TaB0Sr and it conflicts with all the information which I have recently been given by one of the Careers Consultants at my university.
Right now, I'm faced with the task of finding an internship.
My internship report will count towards my final mark.
Should I continue to send speculative applications to companies or should I go down the mobile app route?
Right now I'm stressed but if an app would help me to quickly find an internship, then I will download one tomorrow.
Has anyone had a bad or good experience with a mobile recruitment app?

I haven't received a single reply. I guess I must have either posted it at the wrong time or maybe nobody is interested (just like the companies 😩).
As i'm sure you already know, finding any kind of work is no easy task in this day and age (especially within a specified time frame) but here's a few things you can do to improve your chances.
1. A good cv can make all the difference in the world, ensure that its polished up get it checked by a career adviser in your uni or get it professionally written/reviewed for a small fee online.
2.Make a linked in profile its great for networking and they have a good job board where recruiters post new vacancies.
3.Spend an hour each day searching sites like indeed, reed, universal job match e.t.c for vacancies, since your specifically looking for an internship this site may be of some help http://www.internwise.co.uk/
