Oh my gosh, this is the greatest thing! Thank you!!

Question: does anyone know if the animated LOTR film is any good? It's supposedly on youtube (I don't know if it's actually there or one of those ones with the links in description) but, after watching the amazing Peter Jackson ones, is it worth it??

I haven't seen them personally but I've heard that they were pretty good for their time. I think you should give it a watch 😁

what's your opinion on them? The Silmarillion looks pretty heavy.

It is heavy! Its good to read if you've read the other books a number of times. The sil is pretty condensed and you can miss a lot. It may require a few reads. Unfinished tales is good too, has lots of expansions from the LOTR books and the History has basically everything Unfinished tales has and older drafts of the same stories.

For example, the first conception of the witch king was actually a wizard like gandalf gone bad by accepting a ring from Sauron. He was called the wizard king. But it got changed because Gandalf and the others came to middle earth in TA 1000 and the Nazgul first appeared in SA 2200.
