Personally I wouldn't agree, but I wouldn't judge them. I'd just try to understand why they felt that way and move on.

Yes, because we live in a capatalist society where we sell our labour in order to avoid being pushed closer to subsistence. More money, pushes you away from the homogenization that is happening to the masses right now, due to the illusion of capitalism we all have. No money, equals being stuck on the multi-cultural slave ship every morning, until you reach your semi-final destination of being a corporate wage slave from 9-6. So to answer your question, yes.
