Summer internship offers from Spring weeks?

Is it true that some banks give some of their spring week interns offers for summer analyst internships? By offer, does this mean that the place is confirmed or that the applicant is just being fast tracked to the interview stage where they could still fail to get an internship? Or are the offers a guarantee of a summer internship with no more interviews?

Also, does this only happen for Spring week interns interested in IBD or is it also true for S&T?

I've done some research but it seems like the offers are only given to a small proportion of Spring week interns and are not unconditional...

1. Yes, most have a fast track interview on the last day of the SW/a couple weeks after - do well in that, and you have a summer in the bag. Some, do as you said, only fast track you to an interview once you reapply for their summer and some just don't fast track at all

2. All divisions, process varies by bank

3. Conversion rates vary (obviously because there's an extra interview components) from 10-20% all the way up to 80-90% (DB is known for being high because they have a small SW class size).
