Im studying BTEC level 3 in sport and also mathematics. I am predicted D*D*D* and A*. My question is would this be acceptable for being accepted into top architecture university. I know bath and cambridge are out of the picture but what about sheffield? Would their decision be more weighted on how good my art portfolio is? Thanks

It depends on an individual basis. My friend wanted to do architecture and took Geography as an A Level as it's something universities look for as it's quite relevant but you'll need to look into it further. Science is something that is preferred, mainly Physics. This is what the University of Manchester mainly asks for anyways. Where would you like to go ideally?

i would like to go to sheffield ideally however I haven't considered every option yet. I was looking at entry requirements for sheffield and it says i need to get DDD in my btec however it says 'in relevant subjects. As I'm doing mathematics would this help bolster me. i guess i should really get into contact with the uni instead of posting here but i want to get some opinions and ideas first. From your point of view, what are the best universities for architecture?

Maths is a good subject, well prepared but when they mean relevant subjects, ideally they do mean science/humanities and geography subjects and art. A good art portfolio can edge things out though. What made you choose a btec in sport if you don't mind me asking? And the best universities for architecture are the likes of Bath, Cambridge, UCL, Cardiff and Sheffield.

So would the uni's be looking for a combination of those A levels. Well i received a football scholarship to a footy academy and the only education they provide is btec sport. I had to arrange the maths in my own time. Maybe I should lower my standards as i am indeed doing btec pe LOL sad times

It just seems like you were perhaps not sure of your future career options and then decided when it was a bit too late. The universities I mentioned would more than likely want and need a combination of those subjects and because they're the most top ranking in that field, they won't budge unless it's exceptional circumstances. In terms of lowering your standards, it's not that but rather the random subject of Maths and BTEC Sport. But like I said, contact universities and have a killer personal statement and amazing portfolio.
Maybe consider doing an art foundation where you can specialise on an Architecture or 3D design pathway. Some architecture students do that anyway and it would give you more to write about in your personal statement and specialist tutors who are used to getting people into architecture courses? Not to mention the obvious fact that it would really improve your portfolio! If you do that though try to go to an established foundation course unless your local foundation is particularly good as the big courses will have specialist tutors.
