Find out how your city would do in a nuclear attack!

http://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/

Would you be in danger if a nuke went off in the middle of your city?

Use this site and post the results. I'm making this thread so people realise the variation in the effects of different nukes. They aren't all the same, you can change the type of bomb on the right hand side and enable casualties.

This is the smallest bomb (on the list, smaller ones exist irl) created by the US

Compared to the largest one tested by the USSR

Holy crap. That Tsar Bomba basically took out the entire region; 3km radius fireball and a 60km thermal effects radius. I knew they'd tested a 50 megaton warhead but I never considered the effect on a particular target.

I punched in a 0.3 kiloton airburst centred on the Palace of Westminster. It takes out half of Whitehall, the London Eye etc. But if it happened I would be safe (as long as I wasn't admiring Big Ben when it detonated)

why?

Bear in mind the weather effects. If there was a slight wind blowing from the West in the second image, the bomb would affect everything out to The Wash.
I'd do this but I feel like the MI5 will come running to arrest me because I am brown

As I live 2 minutes from this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_Weapons_Establishment

I'd guess that any map would drastically under-estimate the size of the explosion
tbh maybe being in the blast zone would be a nicer experience. nuclear winter would be a bitch.

Did you have a chance to see the YT video for the French Pacific tests, btw? Good footage, creepy music. It probably would have been quite interesting work though, being one of those scientists sailing out to the Pacific testing area, testing new designs and theories and measuring the actual yields against the predictions then refining etc

I have a feeling I wouldn't do so well since I live near a few millitary bases, one of which is a major NATO Base.
Is it nuclear-weapons theme day on TSR today?
I think the only answer to the question "how would your city do in a nuclear attack?" is "fooking shite"

Not complaining, I'd be very happy for TSR to stay on nuke mode.

I did, I thought the ones exploding in mid-air looked pretty mindblowing (pun intended). Looks like another sun in the sky.

Wasn't there a lot of cases of them developing cancers and sterility a couple years down the line? Not to mention the Islanders who lived around the area.

True, this is a very rough estimation. You can factor in stuff like wind and detonation height on the settings though.

Hahaha, if that's the case then they're already on the way to my house
