Rate Determining Question

Is this a possible two step mechanism for this reaction : 2NO + 2H2-----> N2 + 2H20

(1), NO + NO + H2 -----> N2 + H20 + O (Radical)
(2), H2 + O( Radical) ---------> H20
This should add up to give the overall equation above the page right ? By the way NO is second order and H is first order
Sorry you've not had any responses about this. :frown: Are you sure you've posted in the right place? :smile: Here's a link to our subject forum which should help get you more responses if you post there. :redface:

Not likely because your first step requires collision of 3 species at once.

Did the question say a two step mechanism was required?

I don't think you can get a 2 step mechanism here.

1) NO + NO --> N2O2
2) N2O2 + H2 --> N2O + H2O
3) N2O + H2 --> N2 + H2O

Step 2 is rds
