Nope :ahee:

Someone I met in legal careers discussing training contracts.

He doesn't even use the site AFAIK anymore, let alone rep me.

A likely story. :hmmm:

I don't even see him as a TSR friend so to speak and always forget we met on here. This was back in the days when my username was 'ew296'

Why were you allowed two username changes? Most people are allowed only one. :fuhrer:

Am I missing something? :s-smilie:
Since 1995, goods sold in Europe have had to be weighed or measured in metric, but the UK was temporarily allowed to continue using the imperial system. This opt-out was due to expire in 2009, with only pints of beer, milk and cider and miles and supposed to survive beyond the cut-off

n 2006, three countries did not mainly use the metric system: the United States, Burma, and Liberia. In the United Kingdom metric is the official system for most regulated trading by weight or measure purposes, but some imperial units remain the primary official unit of measurement.

Yeah, we weren't strictly talking about the units used in regulated trade. :erm:

Never going to happen, we use so many different imperial measurements it is unbelievable. In certain industries they still use the imperial currency system of guineas.

That I know of. :dontknow: It depends on which areas you mean. Even in the few countries that still officially use imperial units, I imagine some industries/trades still employ metric units for convenience.

There is still plenty of imperial measurements used, here are some;

Horses are measured in hands

Racecourses are measured in furlongs

Fields are measured in acres or hectares (metric) depending on what you are calculating.

Livestock auctions use guineas

Weight of people is measured in stone and pounds

Grain is measures in tonnes, tons, kg or 100 grain weight

Height of people is measures in feet and inches

Clothes are measures in inches

Golf courses are measured yards

The list goes on.

I actually quite like the antiquated measurements we still use.
