government and politics ideologies

hey guys i just wanted to know if anyone knows what might come up on paper 3b and 4b,prediction for each topic. and can someone please explain to me the exam structure. so for unit 3 we revise 3 topics and answer two question which are 15 marks? and the the same for paper 4b or? am so confused!!!

Are you doing edexcel? For edexcel we learn four ideologies for each unit and technically you could get away with revising three units but then you have to answer a question on each of them, so I guess it depends how confident you are with the three you choose.
Structure is the same for both papers. There is a choice of 5 x 15 markers of which you have to answer 3 and a choice of a few (I'm not sure how many exactly) 45 markers of which you have to answer 1. So for each paper you have an hour and a half to answer 3 x 15 markers (so spend like 10-15 minutes on each) and 1 45 marker. So paper 3b is conservatism, liberalism, socialism and anarchism. 4b is feminism, nationalism, multiculturalism and ecologism. Hope this helps

hey there thanks for the reply. so it's like AS right we learn 4 but we answer 3. last year i revised 3 topics and got away with it lol. but anyway we answer 4 questions altogether right? three 15 markers and one 45 marker, doesn't that mean we have to learn 4 topics? and yeah i am doing edexcel

You don't have to do four, theoretically, but if you only revise three you might be at a loss when the ideologies you revised have the hard questions turning up. It will mean lack of choice with the 15 markers because if say, for example, you don't revise x ideology but 2/5 questions are x ideology you won't be able to do them - you'll have to do the other three even if something comes up that particularly stumps you! If you have full knowledge and are 100% confident then it might be possible but that is really up to you to decide.

Yeah I'm pretty much in the same position, as is everyone I speak to! But my best tip would be to familiarise yourself with the exam question terminology then consolidate your notes to reflect this. This will probably work because the questions seem to all be set in a template of sorts?

i need a B no less. Am guessing that's difficult to achieve to ,honestly government and politics is giving me heart pains lol. am not really struggling with anything atm i just got my liberalism notes done and am just gonna do past paper questions on that and hopefully cover every question that was ever asked on it i guess that would help. where are you in your revision? what topics have you covered so far if you mind me asking

I've done Liberalism and Anarchism, currently doing Conservatism. I think it will take a while to cover all the traditions though. I quite like Liberalism, a 45 marker and 15 markers on liberalism would make me very happy! Are you at the stage of revising in class now?

Revising in class at the moment. I must say I am incredibly tempted to skip socialism (I can't though, I am too scared in case something else trips me up), it is a very confusing ideology and the traditions elude me.
Are you going to uni, if so what for?

today am taking a break lol the past two weeks have been a nightmare. and yeah i am going uni for psychology what about you? are you going uni and if so what do you want to study?
btw how do revise for ideologies in general, do you like just make notes and answer past paper questions with your notes or do you memorize and then do past paper questions without notes?

Well I try to plan answers out from memory then I use my notes to check whether I've got it right, then build it up using my notes.

Hey guys!!! I'm doing this exam and super stressed. I'm halfway through revision, but not yet completed. I revise 1/2 tops from every ideology a day I'm focusing on liberalism, anarchism and conservatism- hoping on a nice 45 marker on anarchism or conservatism.

I revise from notes! So I don't know the whole content fully. So I do unit 3 revision one day then the next unit 4; because the exams are 2 days apart. I'm gonna finish revising from my notes and do all the pp questions!

I've firmed UCL, I absolutely adore it.
QMUL and Brunel are great unis, have you had a chance to visit?
