SAAS for dummies

I find the SAAS page a bit confusing so if there's someone who's a bit better at interpreting the info, please do help me and maybe also some other people who weren't blessed with as wrinkled brain as you!

1.When can I start applying?
I think it has already opened, but as I haven't even firmed my uni choice I'm a bit lost.

2.What documents I need apart from my passport?

3.When is the deadline for new EU students applying for 16-17 funding?

Thank you kind knight of SAAS knowledge!

Have you seen http://www.saas.gov.uk/_forms/sas4.pdf

Are you a Scottish resident? Your Q3 makes me think that you might not be?

If you're an EU applicant then http://www.saas.gov.uk/how_to_apply/eu.htm explains how to apply (do it now!), and that you need to send them a copy of your passport

If you don't know which university you're going to then make your best guess - it's simple to change this later

There's no official deadline for EU students (other than March next year!) - apply by the end of May if you can to make sure everything is sorted before the start of the academic year.

Have you also applied to any English/Welsh/NI universities? Or is there a chance you might end up at one of those universities through Clearing if you don't pass your exams? If so then you should also apply for the tuition loan to the EU team at SFE: https://www.gov.uk/student-finance-forms/y/eu-full-time/year-1617/new-student

Do EU applicants need to send only a copy of passport? That's it?

I assume so, that's what I did. When you click on the "Application Progress Enquiry" there's a part that says "Message from SAAS" where it says if you've missed something.

Oh, okay. Yeah, they will let you know if something is missed. This is very important thing, though, so I want everything to be precise...
