Have you watched video footage of real killings, for example showing the killing of prisoners held by ISIS, or the killing of Saddam Hussein, or the killing of anyone else?
I was once shown one by a work college he didn't explain what it was
If I close my eyes I can still see the man struggling to breath as his throat was cut.
NEVER again
I do think it should be a criminal offense to intentionally watch these
I agree with you. I think it should be a criminal offence to distribute them, and also to possess them knowingly, just as it is with child pornography. They are what used to be called "snuff movies". Several years ago, before Youtube, there was some public discussion as to whether such films existed or whether their existence was imaginary. It was possible to have that discussion because most people hadn't seen one and the criminals involved in making them weren't going to admit it. Now they are mainstream. It doesn't stop being a snuff movie just because the newspapers tell you about it and you can get it sent to you along an internet connection provided by Vodafone or the Post Office without either you or them being raided by the police. What really scares me is there's so little debate about whether that's a good situation. I mean is anyone going to post to this thread, even, to say that it's good, or that it's the "price of freedom"? It's horrendous, is what it is.
What. Why on earth should it be illegal to watch them? (Im talking videos of bad things, people dying, gore etc.. not Terrorist propaganda videos)
IMO It's the same as watching snuff movies (do remember the OP used the term 'Killings' and this is relevant to the context of my opinion)
The people being murdered do have rights even if the murderer is denying them and one of these rights is not having their murder being turned into entertainment for sickos.

I think its extremely important for people to have the choice as to whether they wish to expose themselves to the grim reality of man and the fragility of life. I have found unique insights by visiting gore sights and independent sites of which i would never have been able to comprehend through censored mainstream media.
Im not talking about viewing images which are purposely made for sickos to watch, more general uncensored images from car accidents, war zones etc

Then we are talking at cross purposes I am specificity talking about footage of people being killed (not those who die in accidents)
As I say it is a Human right that is being abused and those watching should be treated accordingly.
i watched assassination of JFK, 9/11 jumpers, the elevator/ escalator accidents, CCTV footage of robberies and killings, car crashes, all those "TOP 10 MURDERERS" videos with graphic content, all those unsolved mysteries, loads of stuff
What about people killed in war/ conflict? Not prisoners, on the battlefield?
Tricky but I believe it would be against the Geneva convention as it regards the treatment of armed combatants but as I say this isn't relevant to my opinion that watching people being murdered should be a criminal offense
(but as we know the Geneva convention was drafted before YouTube )
Yes and while they're pretty disgusting and definitely not something I'd really want to watch again, I wouldn't go as far as to say it should be illegal. I don't think it's comparable to snuff films tbh.
